§ 2-428. Membership.

  • (a)

    The commission shall consist of seven members who shall, in accordance with the City Charter, be appointed by the mayor subject to confirmation by the city council. No less than three members shall be individuals with a disability as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act at 42 U.S.C., § 12102(2), as it may from time to time be amended. At least one member shall be a member of the immediate family of a person with a disability as defined above. At least one member shall be an elected or appointed official of the city.

    (b)

    Commission members shall be appointed for and shall serve a three-year term and until a successor is appointed and confirmed unless the member resigns, is removed from office in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter, or, in the case of the one member who is appointed to fill the position as reserved for an elected or appointed city official, that member ceases his or her other elected or appointed position with the city.
