§ 18-28. Imposed water restrictions—Purpose and authority.

(a)

The purpose of this imposed water restrictions ordinance is to protect, preserve and maintain the public health, safety and welfare whenever there is in effect a state of water supply conservation or state of water supply emergency by providing for enforcement of any duly imposed such restrictions.

(b)

Ordinance No. 1459 is adopted under the police powers of the city to protect the public health and welfare and pursuant to M.G.L.A. c. 40, §§ 21, et seq. It also implements the city's authority under M.G.L.A. c. 40, § 41A, conditioned upon a declaration of water supply emergency as issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
